Party Time

Bethany was invited to a Birthday party Saturday of friends that are also from Guatemala. (Campbell and Lucas) They are siblings from a family that I have met through international adoption. They both turned 5 years old. I was so amazed at the others that came to the party. Most of the families there have been blessed through international adoptions. Bethany and I met other children from Guatemala, Korea, Cambodia and China. They were so precious!!!!. Bethany was a bit over whelmed by all the other children. We had cake and ice cream at the local park. Bethany enjoyed the swings. Bethany was so tired once she got home that she was in the bed early and woke up Sunday morning late. We had such a great time. We hope that we gather again for another party. Thanks for the invitation.

What a messy room!!!!

Bethany never used her baby crib. So we stayed up late on night and took down the crib and put up her toddler bed. We also put her a small television and DVD player. Her favorite movie is "Finding Nemo". While she is watching Nemo, that gives me the chance to clean or do others things that need to be done. Even though at times she is not watching it.. The movie has to be playing. Needless to say, I know the movie by heart. She will play with her toys. I am now in the routine that we both clean her room or pick up her toys. I am posting a picture of the destruction.

Easter Sunday

Bethany and I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter. I had to wake her up at 8:30am to get her dressed for church for the 10am service. Bethany was back asleep by 10:20am. ( I figured she was tired from the egg hunt and activities from Saturday) Church let out at 11:10am. I thought Bethany would wake up on the way home but she stayed asleep on the way home and going into the house. I laid her down on the bed. We were to be at mom's house for a family outing at 1pm. The whole family gathered for an egg hunt, eating hot dogs and there was activities for the kids. It was a fun day. However; Bethany was still asleep at 12:45pm. Since she was a sleepy head, the Easter Bunny came while she was asleep. He put her Easter goodies on the bed for her and when she wakes up she would be surprised. We finally made it to mom's on time. I have attached a few photos of her visit from the Easter Bunny and Easter fun.

Easter Egg Hunt

Every year our church has an Easter Egg Hunt for those of the church and community. After the egg hunt we eat sandwiches, chips and cookies. The kids did a great job this year finding the eggs and the prize egg. I was looking forward to the egg hunt because Bethany has never hunted eggs. She had a good time. It did not take her long to find out how to hunt eggs and put them in her basket. I have posted a few pictures of her hunting eggs and eating her chips and cookies.
Bethany and I hope everyone has a great Easter Sunday. I can't wait to see if she will eat a boiled egg.

Visiting Barbara

Today was a full day. I received all the paperwork that needed to be turned in to the Clerk of Courts to officially do a re-adoption and make Bethany's name be Bethany Grace Von Barber. We have a court date of July 21 at 10:45am. I thought it would be sooner but that was the 1st open date for family court. We also went and visited a dear friend Barbara. Most of the time Bethany will have reservations about the people that she allows to hold her, but she warmed up to Barbara almost instantly. She let Barbara take her outside.She sat on Barbara's lap and watched Sponge Bob. It was a great visit. We will plan another visit soon.

Bethany's first bike run

Every year at this time bikers in the community do a Poker run for the special needs residence of Whitten Center. Bethany loved the Bikes. I thought that she would be afraid of the noise but she watched and pointed at the bikes. My dad had a Harley motorcycle and he would go to bike week in Myrtle Beach and Florida. He would also ride for the Whitten Center residence and Toys for Tots. My dad would love to ride his bike anytime. I know he would be proud of Bethany and I knwo that Bethany would love her Grandpa, but I know he is in heaven looking down on all of us. Miss and love you dad. Finally some sunshine

Since I have not been working, I have really enjoyed being with Bethany. In the last two weeks all it has done is rain and being cold. The rain has finally moved out and the sun came out. Bethany and I have been enjoying the warm day. Bethany loves the outside and so do I.Today I raked the yard and planted grass in a few bare spots, we both rode the golf cart down to the pond where we observed the "Big Turtles" and we both enjoyed a banana pop. Bethany played with her balls and yard toys. Then her nanny and aunt Brenda came over on her golf cart and took Bethany back home with her. Bethany was so worn out that she went to sleep on the way home.
